On one side: a deep sensitivity to people, place, and process.
On the other: a hunger for what comes next.
“We believe design requires two sides.
We begin with questions drawn from the land, history and culture.
Then we answer them with code, systems, and invention.
Leinemann | Ortiz is how we bring those two sides together: not as opposites, but as parts of the same process.

Here is a little intro to our story...
We started as two architects with different instincts, but a shared vision. The Leinemann side (aka. Renata Leinemann) is guided by care; for the environment, for people, and for processes that respect both. the Ortiz side (aka. Victor B. Ortiz) is driven by a desire to make meaningful ideas real; using design, technology, and a long-term mindset to build things that last.
The idea for the firm stemmed from a mutual respect for each other’s eye, and for architecture’s power to shape culture (and, if we are being honest, a huge desire to explore the world).
Originally from Brazil, we both grew up moving between different places and countries, learning to observe, to adapt and to listen. Those experiences formed our approach: rooted in context and open to the world.
Over time, it grew into something larger: a team of like-minded people who share a commitment: creating designs that responds to place, that values materials and craft, and that takes its environmental impact seriously.
In a field that contributes so heavily to the climate crisis, we see it as our role, and responsibility, to do better.
00 | Our Process
01.
We start by analyzing the site's context. What is available in terms of materials, labor, and local construction methods.
Then we do a thorough research into local culture, and architectural styles.
03.
Next we consider the impact that the architecture will have into that site, verifying the correct approach to geometry, material choice and landscape integration.
02.
Then we dive deep into the site's topography and existing conditions, such as trees, views, access, natural springs, etc. That way we can preserve the landscape and incorporate natural elements into the design.
04.
Finally, we carefully choreograph how people move through and inhabit space: whether it’s a home, a plaza, or a piece of furniture. This step focuses on the emotional and physical experience of the user.
