“Design is not only about what we create; but also about how, why, and for whom.
Here we share some of our initiatives that extend beyond our commissions: collaborations with non-profits, sustainability and educational programs, and efforts that aim to give back, reflecting our belief that architecture can be a force for care, equity, and long-term impact.”
Project Amaraucaria
Amaraucária is a long-term preservation initiative led by the NGO Ame Campos, focused on safeguarding one of Brazil’s most endangered native species: the Araucaria tree.

Found predominantly in the highlands of Campos do Jordão, these ancient trees are vital to the region’s biodiversity, water sources, and cultural heritage.

The project works to protect remaining trees, restore degraded areas, and raise awareness through education and community engagement. In a time of increasing environmental pressure, Amaraucária stands as a quiet but powerful act of resistance;  protecting not only a species, but an entire ecosystem.

As part of our ongoing commitment to responsible design, a portion of the profits from our Confluência Rug Collection will be donated to support this important work.
January 2026  (duration: 4 weeks - remote)

Each year, Leinemann | Ortiz welcomes a small group of emerging designers into the studio for a two-month program focused on learning through making. The Summer Trainee Program was created as a way to share the values that shape our work: curiosity, care, and context; with the next generation of architects.

Across four weeks, participants will join live online talks twice a week with guests from architecture, design, and beyond; people who are reshaping how we think about innovation, sustainability, technology, and ecology.
Each week includes one exercise designed to turn discussion into creation, and insight into action.

It’s a space for reflection and experimentation. For slowing down, asking better questions, and reconnecting design to intention. The goal isn’t to teach a single way of working, but to create an environment where new perspectives are welcome, and meaningful architecture can take root.

This year, we’re opening six spots for architecture students or recent graduates (within one year) who are curious, driven, and eager to explore the future of design with us.

Those who join leave not only with new skills, but with a clearer sense of purpose, and a deeper connection to the craft.

Applications for the 2025 Summer Trainee start October 15th and ends December 5th, 2025.

Results will be shared in December 15th, 2025

Program starts on January 12th, 2026
